Our history
The See-a-Sound Reading Plan, which provides the reading materials on the See-a-Sound programme, was created by Systems Analyst Lillian Malt, who had conducted extensive research into the teaching of reading and writing to children. South African born Mrs Malt recognised the powerful connection between a literate population and a truly democratic society, and this understanding has been the basis of her life’s work in the field of children’s literacy. Her reading plan provides a systematic and analytic approach to reading which is extremely simple for a child to use. In 2004, Dr Alison Yeung took over the reading plan and the See-a-Sound summer literacy programme that Lillian had run for 13 years. Adding her colour, sound, touch learning approach, Alison has turned See-a-Sound into a fully integrated learning and personal development programme for children. |
